Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of the biomotor component of speed in pencak silat, particularly in the crescent kick technique, which requires explosive power to produce effective attacks. The main objective of this study was to determine the differences and magnitude of the effect of administering a 1.5 kg resistance band training method on the speed of the crescent kick in female adolescent athletes. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population and sample in this study were 30 female adolescent pencak silat athletes from SMAN 1 Maospati, selected using a total sampling technique. The instrument used was a 10-second crescent kick speed test using a punching bag. Data analysis techniques included a normality test (Shapiro-Wilk), a homogeneity test (Levene's Test), and a hypothesis test using a Paired Sample t-Test. The results showed a significant increase in kick speed after the treatment. Based on the paired sample t-test, a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) was obtained for both the right and left legs, meaning H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Descriptively, the average kick speed of the right leg increased by 5.02% (from 20.80 to 21.90 repetitions) and the left leg increased by 5.22% (from 21.23 to 22.40 repetitions). The conclusion of this study is that the 1.5 kg resistance band training method significantly increased the speed of the crescent kick in female pencak silat athletes at SMAN 1 Maospati. This training effectively stimulates neuromuscular adaptation and increases explosive leg muscle strength. Coaches are advised to use this method as a practical and economical training alternative to improve athlete performance.
